The name Soroptimist means, "best for women", and that's what Soroptimist Interntional
of Apache Junction (SIAJ) strives to achieve. We are women at our best working to help other women to be their best. Founded in 1921, Soroptimist International - an international organization for business and professional women committed to improving the lives of women and children- numbers almost 100,000 women in about 120 countries and territories. Members share their time, talents and financial resources to enrich their communities and to international projects benefitting women and youth worldwide.
Because we are an organization of and for women, Soroptimist International provides a unique vehicle through which to improve conditions for women and children, including achieving economic and political equality, serving as a global voice for women, providing outstanding leadership development opportunities for women, and enhancing world peace and understanding.
As a club, SIAJ assesses the needs of our community and undertakes projects that will best fill those needs, such as sponsoring a room at the Apache Junction Domestic Violence Safe House, educating women about health risks, providing scholarships for displaced women wanting to recapture their dreams through education, assisting homebound seniors, filling backpacks for Project Help children, etc. Our local chapter was established in 1971 and has awarded almost $500,000 to women and organizations that protect and nurture women and their families in our local community and around the world.

Eleanor Roosevelt once said, "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams". We dream of a world where all women and children are truly free to pursue their dreams.
We invite you to join us in our dream: a mission to improve the lives of women and children right here in Apache Junction, Arizona and around the world.
